Oh my gosh, the putter is such a lifesaver. I've never been a fan of twisting the tiny, super-slim surface of any type of filter. ND filter, CPL filter, diffusion filters, they all lack putters! I'm certainly glad that K&F Concept decided to introduce this into their filters, including this one.

Onto the ND functionality itself, this prevents me from having to increase my shutter speed or aperture. It allows me to maintain a shallow depth of field on my subject even in broad daylight. And yes, it also works for landscape photography and other uses, but my main usage has been for taking video of people.

If you're familiar with the exposure triangle, you may recognize my situation. Reducing my aperture would remove my shallow depth of field, and increasing my shutter speed would make my subjects motion look weird, it would just look very off. There would be no motion blur, and as a result the image looks unnatural in our eyes. So, this ND filter was perfect for fulfilling that need.

Overall, I really do recommend this filter if you're looking at increasing the quality of your videos, and obviously this depends on what you're looking to use it for. If you know that you need an ND filter, don't go with the cheap glass. Go for something like this instead! It'll totally be worth it.

I love the adjustment handle on this filter. I use this on a very wide aperture lens sitting inside of a teleprompter. My previous filter didn’t turn very easily anymore and I needed to use two fingers, which meant taking some of the teleprompter apart to get in there. I also couldn’t do it while in front of the teleprompter to see if I have the right exposure. Enter this filter. I can just stick my finger in and adjust with the little handle, all while in front of the camera checking exposure. It might seem like a little thing, but it saves me a lot of time. What was a 15 minute back and forth is now a couple seconds.

The optics are fantastic. No aberrations or other other optical issues. Very high quality build as well. I recommend this filter.

This filter is great for so many different scenarios. I like how it stops at the min/max settings so you know exactly when you reach them.

These are a must buy for long exposure and any other type of shots your into. The glass is insanely clear, it's even hard to see if the glass is there until you get it in the right light. Overall, you cannot go wrong with K&F.

As with other products from the brand, the KF Concept neutral density filter is manufactured to a high standard and is delivered in a safe and practical case.

Thanks to the special coating of the Nano-X series, there are no unwanted light disturbances in the image when used. In addition, the resistance to scratches increases, which I can really confirm here. Especially when used in nature, I often come into contact with dust, dirt or other obstacles, which, however, have not been able to cause any damage to the filter so far.
The excellent dustproofness and waterproofness of the filter should also be emphasized here!

As expected, the imaging performance of the filter is very good. The aperture levels can be precisely adjusted and are a boon for my 28-75 2.8 lens. This allows longer exposures to be carried out even with open glare and great bokeh can be achieved in bright daylight. Given the sharpness of the image, I couldn't see any differences between images with and without filters. Only in terms of color is there a slight distortion in the direction of warmer shades. But that's nothing that can't be fixed in post-edit.

The filter can also show its strengths in the video sector. Thanks to the continuous adjustment of the aperture levels and the easy and smooth adjustment mechanism, smooth and smooth aperture transitions can be achieved here. This is a great advantage, especially with older cameras!

For such an achievement, every amateur photographer should also be willing to dig a little deeper into their pockets. With this filter, the price of currently around 80€ is definitely worth it! With such filters, it is clear from the outset that the image does not remain undistorted. However, since these changes are really within limits compared to competing products and can be “worked away” afterwards, this is not a point of criticism for me.

So a full 5 stars and a clear purchase recommendation on my part.

This K&F Concept 55mm Variable ND Filter fit my lens fine. It is a well made, quality product. The filter worked as well as some as some of my more expensive filters - very happy with it.

I feel like all adjustable filters should come with a putter like the one that comes with this variable ND filter. I have a few K&F concept ND filters already, but this one is by far my favorite.

As usual, the optical quality of the filter is excellent - there's no color shift, and the tint is even and consistent throughout the frame with no hotspots. The entire range provides a very good spread of stops from 1.5 through 1000.

There's a hard stop at both ends of the putter range to stop you from going beyond the stops. As a result there's no "X" or aberrant pattern. Just crisp, even, density.

Filter threaded onto my lens smoothly and effortlessly. No binding.

The putter is obviously a major selling point, at least for me.

Comes in a nice little storage case that offers plenty of protection for the filter while you're not using it.

Great filter through and through.

The products from K&F are simply always amazing. The quality is convincing across the board. With the filter, I can easily adjust the aperture levels and that with absolutely top imaging performance. What more could you want. The filter is definitely worth the money!

Unfortunately, I don't have any photo examples right now, but such filters are used, for example, to make the water blurry/soft when the exposure time is too long and therefore the image is too bright. With all filters, you have to be careful not to screw them too firmly onto them. When it is extremely cold or extremely warm, you sometimes have real problems writing off the filters. That will also be the case with this one.

From the packaging to the actual filter, this screams professionalism and quality. The build quality is A1 and I like the included adjustment knob/flank because it makes navigating through the ND intensity much easier. The quality of the ND is incredible. My photos still retain their color and sharpness. I do make sure that I take a photo of a gray card or white card to custom white balance my camera as this can introduce a little tint - like most ND filters. The friction on this as you move through ND intensity is great. There's no slipping when I set where I want to go and there's no cross polarization which is very important. One thing that I wish this had is some sort of lens/filter cap. Polar Pro has gotten me spoiled yes, but it's a small addition that's key to keeping your filters protected as you move about. Not unless you plan on taking it off every time you move from one location to another. Other than that, this is a really great VND filter.
