I do a lot of outdoor family photography and normally use a variable neutral density filter to open up the aperture for good bokeh (shallow depth of field). So I thought I would try this filter out without my neutral density filter and see what kind of results I would get. I was completely blown away!

The beautiful dreamy look with the sunlight and the skin tones was just absolutely stunning. I wanted to keep my aperture (F-Stop) low around 2.8 to 4.0 and my ISO at 200. So I just simply increased my shutter speed to around 200, which was actually helpful to keep a sharp focus. These settings allowed me to then use this filter by itself and still capture the right amount of light without overexposing.

Immediately after taking the first few photos, when I looked on the LCD screen it was just amazing. The sunlight coming in behind the subject was very surreal and her skin tones were just perfect. Another way to explain visually what I saw was, skin tones and curves were not rigid and sharp but smooth and glamorous. Obviously there are sometimes when you don't want that glamor soft look but for those times when you do, this is absolutely well worth the money.

As a professional photographer I would say, if you don't have this filter in your bag, you're missing out on some great photos.

I've purchased far more expensive black mist filters, and for the value price of an 82mm K&F Concept one I wasn't expecting this to be equal to those. I wish I'd known last year when I bought a pair of 1/4 diffusers in a smaller filter and saved a lot. I would highly recommend these over the pricier filters.

All have been top notch, Now i wouldn't know what the difference between this, and a filter thats like 10 times the ask, but these all work perfectly for me.

In terms of filters, it feels like K&F is making some good ones. This is a nice filter, and well made. The effect on this one is fairly strong, but if it's the effect you're looking for, then this is a good filter to get it. The diffusion is nice and soft, and the materials all feel good. It threads nicely on a lens, and feels like it should hold up well in the future.

This filter adds a bit of Halation effect to your footage. So if that's what you're looking for this is the item!

It is much subtle compared to K&F Nano X 1/4 but it beats Nano X on colour cast as it doesn’t have one! This is the current filter I use alongside with my VND. Bare in mind mist effect isn’t as strong as Nano X series Recommended.

Honestly, the effect from this filter can be done variably with the drag of a slider in post-production without losing the original sharpness. However, if you want this exact diffusion for your work, it's hard not to recommend this one for the price.

Very subtle effect that I feel can be done in post, I don't hate it and I can see the merit but I don't think I'll be reaching for it often.

High quality feel and fit perfectly on the 40MM Canon pancake lens. Cap fits over it nicely as well. on top of that. Nice little hardy foam lined carry case as well for storage. I like playing with different practical effects and filters but not my favorite. Soft subtle diffusion effect, classic/retro look. Maybe if you want to do soft soft retro style photos it'll have a spot in your kit.

Since the advent of digital photography, I haven't been a big filter guy... I use circular polarizers and neutral density filters to create the image - then move to software in the computer to apply the desired effects.

When given the opportunity to try K&F's Black Mist Filter - I jumped at it, as a good filter of this type can save a lot of time in post-processing - particularly when used for video.

A black mist type filter is designed to push highlights while preserving the shadows - and the effect is to create a dreamy, hazy kind of look without destroying the contrast of the image. Portrait photographers use these types of filters to help eliminate the excessively sharp image quality of modern digital photographs - and do so without making the image appear out-of-focus.

Another attribute is that it can help improve the bokeh (out-of-focus areas) so that a lower quality lens can have smoother, creamier bokeh.

The first thing I noticed was that the threads of the filter were extremely precise in fitting my step-up ring. The filter screwed on the ring with the smoothness you would expect from a high-end filter.

I took a few selfies while finding different lighting to experiment with - and I was surprised at how well it held good focus while creating the desired look. I can see myself using this in a variety of filming circumstances. All in all I'm very pleased with this filter and would recommend it to anyone looking to add to their arsenal of photography tools.
