This was my first white soft diffusion filter and in all the situations I tried it in, it was very subtle. I'm not a professional photographer, just an everyday Joe that likes to take pictures of his friends and family.
In my opinion the build quality of this filter is top notch. They provide a case to hold the filter when it is not attached to your lens, and it is a simple screw-on lens filter.
It's nice that they also provide a few cleaning cloths as it's an item you really can't have enough of.
This is an affordable filter and is made from high quality materials. I had a hard time noticing the effect of this filter for the way I tend to do mostly candid pictures. I feel that this is meant more for intentional and planned photos that will take advantage of what it can do.

I have a black diffusion filter by K&F and I really like it. So, when this came up, I wanted to try this too. I've used this filter for portraits of my kids as well as various landscape and macro photos. I have been experimenting with different levels of sun/artificial light and different exposures to figure out where it's sweet spot is and what it's capabilities are. More importantly, even with all the photos I'd taken, I didn't see any vignetting, glare or distortion from the filter. The white diffusion results are subtle and I had to try several shots with and without the filter to actually notice the differences. I feel it casts a soft white blur over the photo, without degrading the photos picture quality. I have been using this for about a month now and have taken over 150+ photos with this. I definitely feel it works well and is a great addition to my camera gear. I have been very pleased and look forward to discovering more ways I can use this. So far though, I really like this for portraits and macro, where the white diffusion effect is more noticeable. In addition, I feel the price is very good and it is a very versatile filter. I highly recommend this for any photographer that looks to push the envelope of their skill and equipment.

The K&F White Soft Diffusion Filter is roughly like stretching white nylon stocking over the lens. It gives white highlights a glow, softens the image and reduces contrast.

Attached are two shots I took with my Sony A7s & Sony 24-105 Lens. The lens length for the photo is at 105mm. I am the beautiful model. Usually these filters are rated for intensity 1/8, 1/2, full, and so on. I am guessing this one is full. To me, it is a dramatic effect. Would lend a black and white portrait a nostalgic style.

As with all K&F filters, the quality appears to be excellent. This filter has large knurls on the edges making it easy to mount to the camera.

It is a good quality filter, great glass coatings and all, but I was dissapointed that it did not do better, It was more my fault choosing this one. They come in strengths and I made a poor choice. I also learned later from trying other peoples filters, that I really should have gotten a Black Mist filter instead, for the effec I seek.

First time using this one of these filters let me say I'm impressed with this makes the picture look better.

I use this filter for one of my Tamron zoom lenses. I like the subtle softening effect for portraits, especially in an outdoor setting, where there's a lot of contrast. I don't recommend it too much outside of portraits or nature photography, since that is when I think the softening effects looks best. The lens itself is really good quality, and screws in easy. You can even screw it in and layer it with other k&f lenses

The effect is subtle in most situations, but it does help cut down on the harsh digital sharpness of a modern camera. I've been using it mostly for portraits to soften skin a tad, but I really want to try this on lights at night, like some other reviews have mentioned. Nicely made filter though, with smooth threads and clean optics. K&F makes some really nice stuff!

I'm a life-long photographer (DSLRs for 18 years) but I haven't shot more than a handful of photos with a diffuser before... mostly because I don't do a lot of portraiture, and because there really was a big difference between the economical diffusers and the expensive ones, the cheaper ones not really looking that professional.

Anyway, I decided to try this one. I'd love to write you a comprehensive, scientific, analytical review, but this filter has left me a bit baffled... but perhaps I'm just confused.

I've thought that diffuser filters are good for a few things:
1. Portraits - softening the skin
2. Making high-contrast images a bit "dreamy"
3. And maybe for giving a more dramatic effect for points of light in a low-light shot

The weird thing is, when I shot nearly identical shots with my Canon full-frame with and without the filter, I was actually getting sharper details and richer colors USING the diffuser! This of course, is not expected. Now, I was shooting hand-held, but I can't believe that in every case, I shot more steady when the filter was on than I did when it was off. But whatever it was, my test shots came out sharper and overall better WITH the filter. But to be honest, unless you peek at the pixel level, there was no noticeable difference when looking at the full image.

I suspect it comes down to focal range and that a diffuser works better with close-up shots... yet my static shots of highly-detailed subjects hardly showed a difference at all.

However... in the scenario where a diffuser is most likely to be desirable - portraits with natural skin... I DID see a difference... subtle, but definitely a softer touch to textured skin.

So... I can recommend this for portrait shots... and I can even recommend it for landscape shots - I'm just not sure WHY they came out slightly better with the filter!

I like this filter, that being said I have to say that a lot of people who buy this or other filters have the wrong idea about what they do or can do for their photography. I say that because professional reviews which show what these filters do as well as the Amazon reviews pretty much indicate that there are times when you really see very little difference between filter/no filter shots. Basically, a White Mist filter tends to give a shot a brights dreamier look by diffusing (expanding the light/light area), but you WILL NOT see it in every photo and every situation and in some situations, you will not see any appreciable difference at all.

So, while I recommend the filter, I would also recommend that anyone looking to buy one take a long look into when, where, and why you want to use a White mist filter and what it can do for you. I say that because I think too many people bring in unrealistic expectations into what their photographic gear can do for them as opposed to what proper composition and control of the lighting should do for them instead (I include myself in that observation about unrealistic expectations because I am just beginning to use more filters and at first I thought that using filters would make a huge difference most pf the time, when really most of the photos I take it wouldn't matter if I had a filter or not). What I would recommend is that if you haven't already, look into what the filters can and cannot do and perhaps look for a good book/tutorial on lighting and filters (although the cost of the filters is not much, buying a variety of them to fit all of your lenses adds up when often you are not really ready for them yet).
