Very subtle and not always necessary
I have been using the 1/4 diffusion filter from K&F for a while and it has produced many beautiful results. That is a stringer diffusion filter than this 1/8 filter and softens the highlights much more. This 1/8 filter is very nice, however. By itself, it doesn't do a ton but does smooth things out enough to be worth the purchase. I have experimented with stacking the 1/4 and 1/8 filters and it does seem to work but filter science is proven when there is more ghosting and visible flare. DFefinitly recommend having both the 1/8 and 1/4 in your collection for constant use as it helps balance and smooth the composition. In all my use, I haven't noticed a lot of vignetting or flare when using a single lens, but when combining the two both of these aspects are much more pronounced.
