Wasn't sure how strong the effect was - smoke tested it at home and didn't seem strong but when I used it during one shoot, it looked amazing. A little too strong imo but that's just preference. Build quality is amazing as usual. Returning this and getting the 1/4 strength.

In the pictures, the first image is with the filter on, the second one is without the filter. Shot with the Nikon 50mm f/1.4 lens at f/1.8. The main difference is in the highlights area. Note how there is loss of contrast and a gentle glow effect around the candle lights and around the stronger highlights. Also, there is a very subtle, dream-like haze in the image, the image sort of feels a little bit warmer.
I can definitely see how this filter will have its place in my camera bag.
Quality-wise, the filter is very nicely made. The storage case is hugely oversized. Looks like the same case size is used for all filter sizes. This is suboptimal for the consumer, since there is no reason why I need to find space for the huge case for a small filter.
The retail box is presentable, and projects quality. The whole package would make a nice gift.

Definitely gives you that nice vintage look. It's pretty strong, maybe too strong. 1/4 strength is probably the perfect amount

These black diffusion filters really add that cinematic look to your videos and photos. I use the 1/2 strength mostly for videos and for the occasional creative photoshoot but other than that 1/2 is too strong for regular client work. I have no complaints, it does what it is intended to do and does it well. I would suggest using it outside or in a larger setting or environment.

I'm absolutely impressed with the quality of the filter. I haven't noticed any ghosting so far, nor any color shift. I use the 1/2 filter size at 35mm. At 85mm, the effect would be far too dominant for me. I use 1/4 or 1/8. Highly recommended!

I've ordered this reviewing unit to test out the features that it could provide and wow i must be honest i am shocked by the results thinking that this is simply a lens filter that screws on top of the actual lens and provide a whole new definition to the images, it provides a smooth glowing effect to the lights and gives a more cinematic look for Videos and portrait!

...but I sent it back anyway. The effect, specified at 1/2 strength, seems far too strong to me; the image loses too much sharpness. If you know that and want that, then it's perfect. So I'm still giving it 5 stars.

The filter diffuses the light beautifully, especially in dark areas...especially lamps, etc. The effect is impressive and not easy to recreate digitally. I would buy it again.
